Tequila Ocho Reposado is a premium, aged tequila produced by the Camarena family in Jalisco, Mexico. It is made from 100% blue Weber agave, which is harvested by hand from the highlands and lowlands of Jalisco and then slow-roasted in brick ovens. The cooked agave is crushed with a traditional tahona stone wheel and fermented with a proprietary yeast strain before undergoing double-distillation in copper stills.
Tequila Ocho Reposado is aged in ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of eight weeks, which gives it a golden color and a smooth, balanced flavor profile. The aging process allows the tequila to take on the subtle characteristics of the oak barrels, with aromas of vanilla and toasted oak. On the palate, there are notes of cooked agave, caramel, and honey, with a hint of spice. It has a clean and smooth finish with a gentle warming sensation.
Like all Tequila Ocho expressions, Tequila Ocho Reposado is a vintage tequila, with each release made from agave plants harvested in the same year, with the vintage clearly marked on the bottle. This approach emphasizes the influence of terroir on the agave plant’s flavor profile.
Tequila Ocho Reposado has won numerous awards, including a gold medal at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It is a versatile tequila that is excellent for sipping or as a base for cocktails such as Margaritas.
